Question:

As a female hiking the trail alone, aren’t you worried about safety?
Answer:

It takes too much energy to constantly worry about your safety for 6 months.

However, I do think it’s important to be smart. Karen Berger has some great tips for how to do this. My favorite one: “Either camp completely out of sight of the trail – or camp within site of several other tents. The idea is to either be completely invisible – or to be within sight and earshot of help.” Check out her article for more advice.
