Our Tarptent Squall has arrived, and Erin and I are thrilled! We immediately set it up in her front yard.
The instructions say that it will “take 2 minutes once you get the hang of it,” which I can believe, even though this was not the case for us. By a long shot. All together, it took us forty five minutes to setup the tent, including five minutes to go inside and re-watch the tutorial. I would say that three-quarters of that time was spent obsessively readjusting things to try to make it perfect. Here is a slideshow of our process.

I hope that you were not blinded by the whiteness of my stomach in those pictures and are now able to continue reading this post. We’re still not sure we got the bottom part taut enough, because it seems like the netting hangs down on the sides. We’ll set it up again soon, and then Erin and I are taking it on two separate test runs next week.
I’m sure it will work out. For us, it was love at first sight. We’re thrilled with our new Tarptent.
